Can your password protect php file protect an .html page? I followed the instructions to the T but I'm getting the idea that the actual protected page needs to be in php format.

I think it will work if you change file extension. For example from mypage.html to mypage.php.

What do you mean by "won't get served up on the web"? Some errors appear? Nothing show up?

Does your server support php? if not, this script will not be of help to you

save following as test.php file on your server
<?php  echo "PHP is working"; ?>

open that file in browser from your server. If you see "echo" then php is not working, if just see "PHP is working" then it is working

I entered your code onto notepad, saved it as a PHP file extension. When launching from the desktop the file does not even open, nothing happens.
