You can set a password to open the document, and/or you can require a password to make any changes to it.

Following these steps to set a password:
- open Word document
- click Tools menu
- select Options menu item
- click the Security tab

You'll see two options:
- Password to open
- Password to modify

Type a password into the field, and click OK to save.

Ya.. Password protected document is very secure and always you have to lock you important data. But sometime is facility gona be create more difficult of self. If you forget your word document password then it become subject of irritation. But you can solve this issue with the help of Office Password Recovery software. This software will help you to recover your password of your office documents and it will help you to open password protected document without taking much more time.
