By the way, thanks for all the great support you have given to me.  I have followed your instruction and tha script works beautifully.  I would now like to embbed the login form (username and password) into the homepage of my site.  Do you have any advice on doing this, and is the fact that it is an shtml page going to cause a problem?

Not sure. Never used shtml. A quick guess is to accomplish that you need to add following code to your shtml file in the place where you want login form to appear. But i do not know if php files would work when included like this.

<!--#include FILE="/path/to/login.php"-->

Note: above should be the server path, not URL.
