Imap Emails cannot be archived automatically. Few third-party applications avail the service. I tried a couple of tools to conclude Mail Backup X works best for Imap Archive Mail. The tool offers a 15 day free trial before purchase.

If you want IMAP archive messages for Outlook– you can follow the steps below to create a new data file.

  • Go to the ‘file’ menu (For Example In Outlook 2007):
  • Open the ‘account settings’ menu.
  • Go to the tab within the account settings menu for ‘data files’
  • Select ‘add’ to create a new data file (.pst file)
  • Enter a file-name for the data-file and select location if required – in this example the data file is named ‘Email archive file’
  • Then select ‘Ok’ to create the new data file.
  • You should see now, that a new folder location has been added within the folders pane in Outlook
  • Right-click on the folder heading to add sub-folders to copy your mail items to new folder.

Under your IMAP email account in the sidebar, find the folder you wish to archive emails from and select it. Select all the messages you wish to archive (such as all those older than 90 days or 6 months) and drag them to your folder of choice under “Local Folders”.
