Hello-

We are trying to use Advanced Password Protect to password protect "hotlinked" files from our file manager.  I searched this forum for a solution to this, but haven't found anything...

We are using IDot Communications' (wonderful) File Manager 1.5.  IDC FM includes a "hotlink" feature which allows us to easily create a direct link to a file within the file manager. However, there is no password protection for hotlinked files so we are trying out Zubrag's script.

The script is great!  However, the redirects we are pointing to are ZIP files (so they download automatically upon redirect).  So even though the zubrag script functions perfectly well, there's no notification that the end user has successfully logged in.

I would love to be able to insert a PHP or JavaScript line in the script so when the user successfully logs in, in addition to the redirect it displays an alert message that says "Your file is downloading".  Please realize, I'm a bit of a hack at this and have gotten this far mostly by trial and error. Smiley

Any advice is greatly appreciated!  If you'd like to see it in action, try logging in here...

or to ask it another way... could someone point out at which point in the script it registers a successful submit?  sorry if i'm not asking that right.

i found code to create an alert in PHP, i just don't know where to put it.

apologies again for my vast ignorance of PHP.  Smiley

SOLVED!!! (and quite proud of myself as i know NOTHING about PHP)...

for anyone who's interested, i got the alert message by modifying the redirects.php method described here....

http://www.zubrag.com/forum/index.php?topic=380.0

my modified script is...

<html>
<head>
<script language="JavaScript">
window.location = "<?php echo $_GET['url'] ?>"
window.alert("Thank you!  Your files are now downloading.")
</script>
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>

within Password Protect Advanced's manager, i have entered the Redirect URL as....

http://www.example.com/path/to/the/redirects.php?url=http://path/to/file_to_download.zip

so now when i login, the redirects.php script gives me the alert message and then sends me to the ZIP file, which automatically downloads.
