I'm a graphic designer but I do have some WYSIWYG web design experience, thanks to Adobe GoLive and Dreamweaver. A friend has asked me to design a site, but I'm just at a loss as to where to start with his requirements. Can anyone help?
What I need is for him to be able to send an email to his clients whenever there is a new user manual for his product available. Clients should then be able to log in to a special "clients only" section of his site (which I assume I would use the Password protection script for) to access the downloads (pdf files, so I'm not sure if I need the smart file script or not). The thing that throws me right now is that he wants to host on his company's server, not the one I currently use. So, I guess I'm just not sure if this will work because I have to download the password protect file to my computer. Can I then just use FTP to get it onto his server?
