Advanced Password Protect error msg: "Cannot find users list!"

Any php page on which I've added the "protection string" to the top displays the text "Cannot find users list!" (from login.php, line 14).  I see this text either when going directly to the page or when trying to get to it by first logging in at login.php.

Am I doing something wrong?  Thanks very much for your help.

This doesn't appear to be mentioned anywhere in the instructions.  If not, it seems like a pretty critical omission.

When you log into manager.php you will get the string to include into the users.php file. Hope this helps.
