Download files from remote server ??
«
on:

G’day
smD 1.2 works fine when the files to be downloaded are in the same directory on my main server.
But, how do I get the script to download files from a different server ?
Thanks
Eddy

Hi Eddy
Downloader currently does not support remote files download.
Will add remote files download this weekend. Some notes:
- will not be recursive (will check if file exists in specified folder only)
- will require php sockets (usually enabled, but some hosting companies disable sockets functions in php)

Location of download page in Address Bar

I just realized something.
Even though we have hidden the path of the file (and put it on another server?) so that it does not appear on mouseover nor when 'view source' is selected - the location of the download page itself is in Address Bar, so all a person has to do is copy or bookmark the page address, and they have access to the files via the downlaod page anyway (which can be passed on to other people).
How can the address bar be removed, and/or hidden so the 'page address' remains unknown ?

Removing the address bar will not help. There are a lot of ways to see opened page url.
You can
password protect download
instead.

Thanks!

This project was suspended as from Eddy's post it looked like such feature would not help to resolve his issue.
But i'll continue since you are also interested in such feature.

I provide a system for college, which blocks the download of exes, the system downloads to the server the file, then provides a link to it..it might help and I do it using the copy() function..if you think this would help let me know and I'll PM the script.
