HTML code in txt file download

Hi All - I am at my wits end with (believe it or not) my bank, who can't seem to remove the HTML code from txt file downloads of bank statements, e.g. "(C-C)' 15/10" displays in the downloaded txt file as "(C-C)' 15/10".  I know enough to know that it is the HTML code displaying but not enough to explain to the "guru's" at the bank what they need to check in their script.
Any ideas ?
